All courses as part of the doctoral programme in Social Sciences are courses with continuous assessment and two hours per week. This corresponds to 22.5 hours in class. Block-mode courses are possible.
We would like to encourage you to propose courses taught in English and to propose several options from which we can choose when compiling the programme. We particularly welcome suggestions for co-taught courses (two lecturers).
Coordination of methods courses
To facilitate decision-making on the final programme proposal for training in quantitative methods, an online meeting will be held on 3 December 2025, 11:30–13:00.
Please join the meeting via this link. The meeting is coordinated by Thomas Meyer (thomas.meyer@univie.ac.at).
If you have questions or suggestions regarding the training in qualitative methods, please contact Emma Dowling (emma.dowling@univie.ac.at) or Tatjana Thelen (tatjana.thelen@univie.ac.at).
Based on your suggestions we will pre-select courses and propose a programme for the academic year 2026/2027. The programme proposal will then be discussed by the Studies Conference. Lecturers will be informed in early February 2026.
We look forward to receiving your proposals.
Best wishes,
The team of the Directorate of Doctoral Studies for Social Sciences
(Thomas Meyer, Emma Dowling, Tatjana Thelen, Claudia Wilhelm)
